Firmware Go

A slim design yet stylish, quality HD screen, a comfortable quad-core processor, 13-megapixel camera with 5-megapixel camera on front, and then an expandable memory. Though not cheap. PRICE 349 It would be appropriate to duly regard the Samsung Galaxy A5 as the elder sibling of the recent A3. The two phones emphasize the sleek, metallic design style prominent to last year’s Galaxy Alpha, just that a little variety comes in here as this one offers an increased screen size as well as an enhanced camera — but then I don’t feel it is adequate justification for the £100 jump in price? You could get it now on purchase around £349.

Very certainly, the metal unibody design has this improved feel compared to Samsung’s all-plastic models, nevertheless this version is quite a drop from the authentic premium feel which is particular to the Galaxy Alpha. Of course, it is cool slim at a just under 7mm and the weight’s been well limited to 123g. There are slots on the side, which could accommodate a nano SIM and microSD card (up to 64GB) to complete the functioning of the 16GB of onboard memory. Just in similarity with the A3, you wouldn’t be able to access the battery if the situation arises to change it. The 5.2-inch Super AMOLED screen ushers in an HD resolution of 1,280×720 pixels (294ppi) and its superiority is nicely noticeable in just about every dimension regarding the A3, coming with bright energetic colours, more detail courtesy of an increment in the ppi count as well as an enlarged size fulfilling the reality of a better immersive feel to anything you happen to be viewing, this could be games, websites or movies.

The A5 is presented with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, this places it just behind the most recent 5.0 Lollipop, an upgrade is a feasible possibility next year. Taking our concerns to its more demanding screen though, this could be an astonishment seeing that the A5 has a processor bearing resemblance to the A3 — quad-core, clocked at 1.2GHz. Even at this, the 1.5GB RAM has been moved up to 2GB, thus it is possible to believe that it contributes to keeping its smooth operation. Worth pointing at here is that it is pretty impressively smooth at opening apps and it wasn’t conspicuous if any obvious slow-down or stuttering existed in the device even in face of a couple of apps running at the same time.

There is a distinct improvement as to the 13-megapixel camera over the 8-megapixel model on the A3. It comes along with a suite of features sharing resemblance, among which are included LED flash and autofocus, in addition to a handful of Samsung modes which includes HDR, Shot, Rear cam selfie & more. Picture quality is cool in decent light, with realistic colours and really a lot of detail. On the front is a 5-megapixel snapper for improved quality selfies which tops above average. Bigger phone in most cases implies a bigger battery as well as this is what we have here. Yet, there is no much disparity in size at 2,300mAh and with that bigger, higher quality screen to run, it would be too much to expect to get a solid use exceeding a day out of it.

To draw the curtains here, for around a £100 more than the A3, the Galaxy A5 presents an improved bigger, quality screen a more daring camera, and the processor has been improved some distance up a little so as to measure with the increased demands well heaped on it. It’s a smooth glossy -looking device and a pretty good performer too, though I wouldn’t say everyone will approve to the justification of the price when brought in comparison to less expensive big-screen rivals like the OnePlus One, or phone with relatively advanced camera options, in the resemblance of the 20-megapixel model on the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact.
