RK3288C Chromebooks deliver more of what educators and students need


A broadening trend in K-12 education is the use of Chromebooks, driven by digitization of educational tools and materials. NTT DOCOMO and MediaTek Forge Partnership for 5G Technology Development and Trials


Companies jointly implement ground-breaking innovations to maximize 5G user experience and performance

NTT DOCOMO, INC. and MediaTek today announced a joint effort to drive 5G technology development. The two companies will collaborate on developing new 5G air interface and chipsets required for 5G devices, raising spectrum efficiency and increasing data capacity. MediaTek is one of the major technology companies selected by DOCOMO to contribute expertise and technology innovations needed for supporting the launch of new 5G networks by 2020.

“DOCOMO is excited to work with MediaTek, an innovator with expertise in the technical requirements of 5G,” said Seizo Onoe, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at DOCOMO. “The potential opportunities for 5G to enable people to connect with devices are endless. We’re eager to see our 5G network inspire innovative inventions to benefit technology, life and business.”

MediaTek, a leading cellular baseband solution provider, has a complete modem technology portfolio covering all 2G, 3G and 4G standards. Its WorldMode chipsets allow device makers to serve operators worldwide using a single platform.

“We are pleased to collaborate with DOCOMO on developing the best possible standard as well as user terminals for 5G cellular systems,” said Kevin Jou, Senior Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of MediaTek.  “We plan to use our advanced signal processing and circuit technologies to design solutions that will meet the diverse and stringent requirements posed by 5G in order to ensure a successful service launch in the 2020 time frame.”

NTT DOCOMO and MediaTek plan to implement the transmission experiment in both indoor and outdoor environments in 2017, and carry out new wireless interface and chipsets development from 2018 onwards.

Meizu has just announce their latest flagship, the Meizu Pro 5. This 4G LTE Android Lollipop 5.1 device uses Samsungs Exynos 7 Octa 7420 64-bit processor that run at 2,1GHz.

The processor is the latest top performance CPU from Samsung and the exact processors are also used on Samsungs latest flagship. The Galaxy S6 and Note 5. But, in terms of performance, the Meizu Pro 5 performs faster than the two Samsungs top end devices. Why?

      MediaTek and Nokia to Demonstrate Extended Coverage Enhanced General Packet Radio Service MWC 2016


      Chipset and network advancements support low power, connected objects for IoT marketplace.

       
      Preparing for a world where billions of devices and sensors will constantly transmit data, Nokia and MediaTek will demonstrate technology in Barcelona designed to improve power consumption and enhance network coverage. Extended Coverage Enhanced General Packet Radio Service (EC-EGPRS) encompasses new innovative features such as Power Efficient Operation (PEO) and extended discontinuous reception (eDRX), paving the way for battery life that can be measured in years and a wider reach than achieved by conventional GSM/GPRS networks today.

      The demonstration, shown at the MediaTek booth (Hall 6, E21), makes use of an EC-EGPRS capable Nokia Flexi Multiradio 10 base station and a mobile station, which is based on MediaTeks modem technology and protocol software.

      “Everywhere connected objects that send, share and collect information require innovative chipset technology and advanced networks,” said JC Hsu, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the IoT Business Unit at MediaTek. “MediaTek continues to be at the center of  the Internet of Things, collaborating with Nokia and supporting technology for low power, low throughput, and low cost devices that will drive growth and innovation in the IoT marketplace.”

      Coming IoT applications will produce small amounts of data, be in remote locations and need to operate on for years on battery power. By focusing on advanced power savings modes and efficient networks, this joint effort meets the needs for future IoT sensor devices.

      Niko Lalu, head of Single RAN, at Nokia, said: “We are very satisfied with the collaboration with MediaTek in implementing this prototype and demonstration system. We are showing that we are on a good path in making EC-EGPRS technology commercially available in networks and devices, meaning our customers can further leverage their investment in GSM network technology.”

      EC-EGPRS technology is aligned with ongoing standardization within 3GPP GERAN (3rd Generation Partnership Project GSM/EDGE Radio Access Network). The specification will be finalized and available later in the first half of 2016. Samples of EC-EGPRS capable products are expected to be available by the end of 2016.

      • Download and Install drivers for your Xperia devices,  You need to ensure that your computer has all  of the necessary drivers installed for your Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact .

      • If you have any problems you will  find the necessary drivers (once you have installed Flashtool ) in the following folder location:  ‘C: Flashtool drivers’.

      Using Flashtool To Upgrade / Flash Xperia Firmware.

      This guide is show to you how to using flash tool step by step to flash or install firmware to your Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact devices. Follow this guide carefully to get the perfect result .
      1. Fisrt step you must download and install the latest flash tool from here.
      2. When finished download, now you must install this flash tool on your PC.
      3. If you using windows 8 or windows 8.1 you must follow additional guide to insall flash tool
        • Click Start > Run
        • On the dialogue box appear you can type : shutdown.exe /r/o/f/t00
        • Now make the following selections to boot into the Start Up Setting screen : troubleshoot > Advances options > Start Up settings > restart.
        • When your windows 8/8.1 restart, select number 7 i.e . “Disable driver signature enforcement”
        • Now your windows 8/8.1 will start with Disable driver signature enforcement disabled until the next reboot.
        • Ok, flashtool driver now can be installed here
        • And windows 8/8.1 will warn that the driver is not signed and will require you to confirm the installation
        • Once your flashtool complete installed, you must reboot or restart your windows 8/8.1
      4. After you finished installed flashtool, now launch this program window, and if flashtool successfully opened you should see windows like picture shown below.
      5. Then navigate to tools > bundles > create.

      6. Now you must choose the folder where you save your firmware files, you can click the button show on picture below.

      8. On picture show phone model (for an example is D2302). And the bundler now include all of the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact firmware files.

      9. Now, you must select your device by double click on device form to get list of device

      11. Now, you can double click again on name of your device to select variant on variant selector.

      12. Now you must input branding and firmware version number into the appropriate form.
      13. If you want know what is your firmware version and branding, you can check this detail on the actual firmware you downloaded before.This picture is an example for Sony Xperia M2, If you use another version may be different.

      14. Highligt all file listed on folder list (use ctrl + click), and move to the right of windows. Then click create button. This picture is an example for Sony Xperia M2, If you use another version may be different

      15. And now wait the process. Flashtool will start creating FTF firmware file, a progress bar will shown at below.

      16. When your FTF firmware file nhas been complied, you will see the message, bundle creation finished.

      17. Make sure your FTF firmware file has been created, to check it you can go to your folder location on your computer.

      19. To start flash your Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact  device, click the lightning bolt in the top left of flashtool windows.

      20. Select flashmode on the bootmode chooser, then click OK.

      21. Now select the firmware build version that you want to flash from the fiirmware pane windows. Then click flash button on left bottom. This picture below is an example for Sony Xperia M2,  If you use another version may be different.

      23. It will take around 60 seconds for the pop-up window appear. And now its time for you to connect your Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact  device.

      25. Then, Hold the "Volume down" button whilst connecting USB cable.

      27. For an older sony xperia device, replace voleme down with back button (xperia ray)
      28. When the flashing process is finished, you can see message on flashtool

        • Please unplug and start your phone.
